CFUV Volunteer position: Community Affairs Assistant

 The Community Affairs Assistant is a volunteer position that will include programming, audio and research for CFUV’s Community Affairs department. This position will report directly to the News Director and Program Director.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Contribute one segment every two weeks to our existing Community Affairs program, Full Circle. Segments to focus on court and political issues.
  • Host monthly political round table
  • Provide peer support for new current affairs volunteers with CFUV

QUALIFICATIONS:                                    

  • Strong interest in news, community and current affairs
  • Curious and creative outlook
  • Interest in story-telling
  • Willingness to learn how to use audio equipment and editing software
  • Self-directed
  • Experience providing peer support or working collaboratively an asset

TRAINING:

Must become a CFUV Radio Club member and complete a mandatory number of preliminary volunteer hours. Training provided with audio production equipment and programs

JOB LOCATION ON-CAMPUS: CFUV 101.9 FM, Student Union Building, RMB006.

TIME COMMITMENT:

  • 2 hours minimum regular commitment per week, with flexibility for holidays and time away

BENEFITS:

  • Training in journalism, radio production, audio production, story building, and interviewing
  • Experience in the field creating audio segments for air and the opportunity to build a portfolio
  • Experience providing and receiving peer support with on-air volunteers
  • Opportunity to connect with members of the CFUV Radio Club, the Women’s Collective and volunteers with a variety of interests, belief systems, values and backgrounds
  • CFUV has an active social component for its volunteers including recognition events, holiday gatherings, and events
