CFUV @ VFF: Angirattut (Coming Home)
Written by programdirector on 02/07/2016
Angirattut (Coming Home) is a powerful story that demonstrates the wholeness of an indigenous community’s return to the land. Yes, there are ceremonies, moments of mourning and longing that only the old ones know. But there is joy and peace as well. The equilibrium of spirit and body were most present in the image of a solitary fisher working the line. How can one be lonesome when one is home? We need more films like this that push the boundaries of what cinema is and recast the audience from the lazy maple leaf voyeur who asks why are there no English subtitles.
