CFUV STATION MANAGER

 

CFUV is a campus/community radio station serving Greater Victoria. Our purpose is to offer the general public an intelligent, innovative, and entertaining alternative to mainstream radio programming, to communicate the concerns, interests and activities of the campus and the academic environment to the general public, to give groups from the campus and community an opportunity to communicate with their members and with the general public and to give students an opportunity to develop and use their creative talents on radio.

We are hiring a Station Manager! The position is available immediately for an energetic, passionate and dedicated individual.​

Job Description:

Under the direction of the Board of Directors of the University of Victoria Student Radio Society, the Station Manager is responsible for managing all operations of the Radio Station:

 

1) Ensures CFUV’s mandate, Statement of Purpose and policies are effectively implemented

2) Ensures the financial health of the Station by working with the Board and the staff to forecast expenses, anticipate revenues, and acquire grant, sponsorship and other funding.

3) Works with the Treasurer of the Society to create, implement and monitor budgets   and produce operating budgets.

4) Manages the performance of paid staff and ensures the effective coordination of volunteers.

5) Acts as liaison with the CRTC and Industry Canada, and has primary responsibility for preparation of license renewals and society registry.

6) Acts as a liaison with the campus and community.

7) Is responsible for promotion of the station to the community and campus.

8) Reports to the Board of Directors at each Board meeting on the progress of the finances, programming and policies of the station, and submits recommendations for improvement.

9) Directs and is responsible for the implementation of the editorial policy and standards of the station.

10) Undertakes other duties as required.

 

Qualifications:

 

1) Broad familiarity with the management of a campus radio station, gained through experience as an employee or volunteer in a campus/community radio setting.

2) Proven ability as an administrator and a manager of volunteers.

3) Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.

4) A working knowledge of regulations and policies that affect campus/community radio.

5) Experience in fund raising and financial administration.

6) Experience working with a diverse volunteer base an asset.

 

Salary Range: Up to $33,000, with expectation to be present during normal operating hours (Monday to Friday, 10am to 5pm) and other times as required.

Benefits: 4 weeks annual vacation plus extended medical and dental coverage.

The initial term of the Station Manager is three years, with possible extensions to a total term of five years following successful performance reviews.
