CFUV does Levitation Vancouver 2016!

Written by on 06/17/2016

Festival season is officially HERE!

CFUV started out with a quick trip over to the mainland for LEVITATION VANCOUVER, as this is to be (maybe) a new, and another home of heavy rock in B.C – shedding much deserved light on sludge, punk, metal and progressive rock.

Trevor Dundee one of our DJs who hosts Psych Reel (airs on Sunday afternoons) will be doing the coverage, so stay tuned as we give you a play by play!

Without further ado…

Levitation Vancouver 2016, Thursday Night Kick off Party:

Last night Levitation Vancouver kick started it’s weekend-long festival of fuzzed, psyched out weirdness with two hard hitting shows. The Cobalt, with a more punk and post-hardcore styling. While The Rickshaw featured bands attracted to a more stoner-metal and doom influence. Each band ranging from reverberated post-rock, to a massive overdriven, blast beat riff-fest while crowds poured in to see locals Baptists, and Sumac tear the stage!

Levitation continues today despite a fairly drastic venue change, from the outdoor Malkin Bowl to The Commodore Ballroom. Luckily Vancouver didn’t see the cancellation of the festival like the Austin experienced due to unpredictable weather. Still, the move is unfortunate for both concert goers, and organizers. The music, however, continues this evening and set times have been rearranged to avoid schedule overlap as much as possible!

Night shows during the festival will feature visual artists and projectionists to accompany bands and stimulate the senses. Tonight, The Cobalt will see Mad Alchemy’s liquid light show along side Sacri Monti, Black Mastiff, and Heron Oblivion!

Thank You Trevor! Stay up to date with CFUV at Levitation on Instagram and Twitter! #cfuvdoeslevitation
