CHLY 101.7 FM Presents: Live Music at the China Steps

CHLY101.7FM, CFUV’s sister station at Vancouver Island University (formerly known as Malaspina University College) in Nanaimo, is proud to present free live music at the China Steps every Thursday until the end of summer in conjunction with the Downtown Nanaimo Business Improvement Association (DNBIA.)  

On July 12th Blackberry Wood will be performing their secret and magic combination of alt-country-gypsy-circus music that blends juicy flavours like jumpin’ ska, skiffle, folk, punk ‘n many other irresistible body shakin’, foot stompin’ delights to their original and timeless-down home-ol’ style adventures.

Then on July 19th it’s The Woodshed Orchestra. A 9-piece ecstatic soul-filled celebration emancipation experience featuring legendary Toronto drummer Dave Clark (Rheostatics, Gord Downie, Happiness Project) who pilots his band through the classic dance styles of New Orleans Funk and Second Line, Tex-Mex, Calypso, Country, Ska, Punk, Reggae, Soul, RnB, Klezmer, Pop, Grinding Blues, Surf and Swing.
