We’re hiring a part-time Arts & Outreach Intern for May-October!
Qualifications:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Familiar with audio production software
- Good computer skills
- Understanding of journalistic standards and ethics
- Experience working with and directing volunteers
- Experience in news programming and campus/community radio an asset
- Willing to work flexible hours and weekends
Principal Duties:
Accountable to the Station Manager and Coordinator of Volunteers, the Arts & Outreach Intern works as part of a team.
Specific areas of responsibility include:
- Produce a weekly arts magazine radio program which includes interviews, community announcements and production of short documentaries. Local arts content covered would include: theatre; art galleries and collectives; music events and festivals; literary readings; spoken word performances and local dance companies.
- Use the weekly program to outreach and recruit other youth and multicultural community volunteers.
- Edit and upload the weekly radio program for podcast and promote via social media
- Assist the Coordinator of Volunteers with outreaching to priority communities and groups, especially high school youth and multicultural communities.
- Aid in the organization and running of youth media camps and Francophone youth station tours.
- Assist with weekly live on-air performances both as an on-air host and as a sound tech apprentice.
- Other duties as required.
Terms of Employment:
Twenty hours a week, $16 an hour with a half hour lunch. Must be available for weekend and some evening work. Applicants must be between 16 and 30 years of age. The position runs from May 1st-October 30, 2015. A criminal record review is required immediately upon hiring, at the employee’s expense, but upon a successful review the employee will be compensated for the criminal record review fee.
