“Sing Your Heart Out”: a Community Concert Combining Local Poetry and Local Music

Musicians of a diverse array of genres–including bluegrass, folk, rock, punk, electronic and spoken word–will be performing music they have created from poems written by local elementary and high school students.

The project’s founder, Jennifer Kingsley, finds inspiration in the project’s spirit of joy, creativity and togetherness. She is “thrilled to be part of getting this poetry into the community” and interested in seeing what the musicians’ have created using the poetry.

Kingsley initiated this project while participating in a Landmark Education leadership program.
