Carmen Aguirre @ UVic

A Vancouver-based theatre artist who has worked extensively in North and South America, Carmen Aguirre has written and co-written twenty plays, including Chile Con Carne, The Trigger, and The Refugee Hotel. Her first book, Something Fierce: Memoirs of a Revolutionary Daughter was recently published  and was nominated for the B.C. National Award for Canadian Non-Fiction, the international Charles Taylor Prize for Literary Non-Fiction, was selected by The Globe and Mail, Quill & Quire, and The National Post as one of the best books of 2011, was named Book of the Week by BBC Radio in the United Kingdom, won CBC Canada Reads 2012, and is currently #1 on The Globe and Mail’s national bestseller list.

Carmen Aguirre is coming to UVic on Wednesday March 21st and will be speaking at the University Centre 12:30-1:30pm in Room A180. A book signing will follow.
