Rifflandia Sunday : Going Out With Purpose

Written by on 09/21/2015

This Rifflandia Festival was a great way to celebrate the end of summer! Sunday rolled around and instead of everyone being tired from the constant activity, Victoria showed up on sunday with the best energy of the whole weekend!

HOLLERADO

Hollerado from Ontario played their indie rock sound in style. Not only were they all in matching onesies but the band sounded clear and on point! They were full of drive and played a great set, with new and old songs being featured!

JESSE ROPER

Jesse Roper and his band are the epitome of good old fashion Rock n Roll! No shoes and long hair makes for lots of running around and tons of head banging! They had crazy solos on all parts! After a special drum solo there were drumsticks even flying into the crowd! Everyone was really into it and from my personal experience of seeing lots of rock bands, I can say that these guys did it right! It seemed as well their music helped keep the rain away, because it rained before and after but not during!

TACOCAT

Tacocat turned the dials to 11 and rock it! This garage punk band were in your face with double time drums and body shaking bass! This was the first show out of the whole festival where my ears really hurt after! However if that didn’t happen, I don’t think it would have been punk. I did enjoy the aesthetic of the whole band with matching tacky jean jackets and short bangs! Overall this wasn’t necessarily my scene. I can say they did for sure had the whole tent shaking however with everyone jumping and pushing underneath!

JOEY BADA$$

Wow. Joey Bada$$ was my personal favorite of the artists line up, so I had high expectations for his show. He killed it! Bringing his classic New York style rap to the stage, it got everyone hyped! Joey is the frontrunner to famous rap group PRO-ERA and this show displayed why. From the jumping to chanting all the words, Joey Bada$$ knows how handle and control a crowd! I was quite happy to see how well Hip – Hop translated over to a festival dominated with Indie Rock and Alternative Pop. What was great as well is that Joey made sure everyone there felt like they were all PRO-ERA members with great audience participation. With girls dancing on the stage and the whole crowd going nuts for every song, it was simply a great event to be at!

Rifflandia was many things, exciting, thrilling, tiring, non-stop. The list can go on, but what must be said is that the festival goers are the heart of it and it was such a joy meeting so many friendly faces. The greatest part of the festival was going to any show and being able to dance and enjoy music with complete strangers. I can’t wait for next year as I hope this event just gets bigger and bigger!

Cheers Everyone!
