GOAT: A Festival by Animal Productions

Goat is a festival being organized by Animal Productions happening July 2nd to 5th at venues all across Victoria.  The festival includes 11 separate events and encompasses just about every musical taste.  The events can be attended individually, or you can get a festival pass at Cavity Curiosity Shop or Lyle’s Place.

Thursday July 2nd

12:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Opening up the festival is an all-ages show at Cavity Curiosity Shop.  Leanaboo, Cosy Father, Formidable Liquorice, and Jack Thomas will be performing.  Admission is $8 at the door, or included with a festival pass.

6:00 PM – 9:00 PM

The Vancouver Island Hardcore Punk Society has curated an all-ages show at the Victoria Events Center featuring Artificial Dissemination, Blessed, Schoolgirl, and Two Or Twelve.  Admission is $10 at the door, or included with a festival pass.

9:00 PM – 12:30 AM

Closing off the first day of the festival is a 19+ show at Logan’s Pub.  Monomyth, Nap Eyes, Novel, and High Arctic will be performing, and tickets are $10 or included with a festival pass.

Friday July 3rd

4:00 PM – 5:00 PM

To start the second day there’s a show at a Mystery Venue with Quaker Parents, Mono No Aware, KAPPA CHOW, and The Backhomes.  For more information, just ask an animal!

7:00 PM – 10:00 PM

The second show on Friday is an all ages show at The Intrepid Theater.  Performing will be Eva Allenby Jean, Olav, Golden Hand, and Old Girl.  Tickets are $8 at the door, or included with your festival pass.

9:00 PM – 12:00 AM

Friday night ends with a weird concert curated by Weird Canada.  The show is taking place at Upstairs Cabaret, and features performances by CROSSS, Ace Martens, Psychosomatic Itch, and Joyfultalk.  The show is 19+, and $10 or included with your festival pass.

Saturday July 4th

10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

On Saturday morning Goat does something a bit different.  Cavity Curiosity Shop hosts a circuit bending workshop as part of the festival.  Participants will learn how to turn sound making toys into crazy alien instruments.  Participants must be at least 16 years old, bring their own sound-making child’s toy, and are required to register beforehand.

12:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Saturday is host to the largest show that’s a part of Goat.  Starting at noon, 9 bands will be performing an all ages show at Wheelies Motorcycle Shop.  The bands performing include Electric Empress, Nogoods, Newport Beach, Girlfriend, Zuzu’s Petals, Whoop-szo, Saltspring, Hush Pup, and Mystic Triangle.  Tickets to this portion of Goat are $10 or included with a festival pass.

9:00 PM – 1:00 AM

Saturday night, Craft Singles are putting together a showcase at Logan’s Pub featuring Fountain, Jons, Homebody, Whimm, and Dories.  This show is 19+, $10 at the door, or included in a festival pass.

Sunday July 5th

2:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Sunday starts off with a show at the brand new venue Northern Quarter.  Gianna Lauren, Dada Plan, Mauno, and Colin Cowan & The Elastic Stars will be playing an all ages show.  Tickets are only $8 or included with your festival pass.

7:00 PM – 12:00 PM

Goat comes to a close Sunday night with a show at The Copper Owl featuring Rugged Uncle, Batstew, Painted Fruits, Downtown, Fascination, and Righteous Rainbows of Togetherness.  This is a 19+ show that costs $15 or is included with a festival pass.
